Secret Agent Society (SAS) Social Skills Group at Capable Kids
Welcome to the Secret Agent Society (SAS) Social Skills Group at Capable Kids! Embark on an exciting espionage-themed journey where we encourage neurodiversity, promote social growth, and provide a comprehensive, evidence-based solution to structured social and emotional learning for children aged 8-12.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It…
As secret agents, our young participants undertake thrilling missions and solve intriguing problems, all within an inclusive and safe space that values neurodiversity. Developed initially for children on the autism spectrum, SAS has expanded its evidence base to bring about meaningful change for children with various diagnostic and neurodiverse profiles.

This world-leading approach prepares your child for life’s social and emotional challenges in a fun, effective, and affirming way. The SAS Small Group Program, a months-long initiative, systematically incorporates new research and best practice evidence to improve four critical life skills:
1. Emotion Recognition in self and others
2. Emotion Regulation, particularly anxiety and anger
3. Social Problem Solving, both individually and as a group
4. Social Skills for Friendship and Teamwork

A World Where Neurodiversity is a Superpower
The SAS program uses digitised, choose-your-own-adventure style missions and a step-by-step problem-solving formula to support executive functioning. We help children think flexibly about different solutions to social problems, moving away from unsuccessful coping strategies and toward more effective responses.

The program draws on learning and behaviour change principles, breaking complex skills into component steps relevant to the learner. A structured Skill Tracker monitors children’s daily skill usage at home and school, with rewards provided in exchange for symbol credit earned.

By integrating cognitive behavioural therapy strategies and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques, we help children cope with unpleasant feelings and tolerate uncomfortable emotions. We aim to enhance perspective-taking, diversify understanding of emotional expressions and intensities, and help children accurately interpret social situations.

Making a Meaningful Impact
At the heart of our program is the intention to empower children to reach their own goals and communicate their existing needs effectively. We teach children how to detect their thoughts and feelings and those of others, enhancing their ability to interpret social situations accurately.

The program enables children to understand the social needs, preferences, and goals of a diverse range of people and to communicate their own diverse social needs, preferences, and goals to others. This approach helps children identify useful ‘big picture’ clues in social interactions while leveraging their strength of focusing on detailed clues.

Join us in our Secret Agent Society Social Skills Group at Capable Kids, where we celebrate neurodiversity and empower our young people to lead fulfilling, authentic lives. Let’s embark on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and adventure in a world where every agent is celebrated for their unique strengths.
